Benefits of warranties on your contract beds
The importance of warranties upon the purchase of hotel contract beds is very much integral to the process of contract bed buying. Millbrook contract beds believe it is the responsibility of the supplier to ensure high quality products but also provide security to the customers when it comes to living up to a quality assurance promise. This is why warranties are there to protect buyers and assure them that a company’s confidence in one of their products is very high indeed.
A standard Millbrook guarantee and warranty expires 10 years from the ‘proven’ date of your purchase of your Millbrook beds from your retailer. Always keep your receipts for reference.
So what does a Millbrook contract bed warranty detail?
The extended warranty from Millbrook relates to the cost of repairing or replacing your Millbrook bed or any part of your bed. For this warranty to remain valid however you must adhere to the conditions of this warranty.
We consider manufacturing defects to be incredibly unlikely, but on the off chance that there should be problems, you will be covered for the first two years of purchase at no additional charge before the natural process of wear and tear can reasonably be expected to affect your contract beds. However, there if a manufacturing defect does occur during a period that extends beyond the 2 year warranty but less than 10 years after your original purchase, Millbrook contract beds will repair or replace your Millbrook bed subject to a pro-rata usage charge based on the period of time you have had it and its current cost or the repair cost. The contributions you might be asked to make vary on the amount of time you have had the contract bed. Details of contributions to repairs/replacements post-two year warranty can be found here.
Any replacement, repair or refund during this warranty period can be obtained from the retailer under their terms and conditions of sale. All contract beds come with the optional warranty.
How do you claim on the warranty?
Claiming is usually a straightforward process. If you are experiencing problems or have incurred damages to your contract beds after the first two years, send the full details of the defect including your name, address and proof of the date you purchased the contract bed with a copy of receipt and address details to Millbrook for review.
The cost of repairing or replacing the contract bed will be estimated and you will be informed of any additional costs and then asked if you wish to proceed with the claim. If you do, the Millbrook contract bed will be collected from you and then returned to you free of charge.
Millbrook contract beds for hotels and the hospitality industry provide supreme quality and finish for each piece of furniture manufactured. It is very reassuring in these days of mass production, to find a company totally committed to the traditional ideals of quality and craftsmanship. The warranty is there to ensure that confidence in our products is continued. For Millbrook Contract Beds, customer service doesn’t simply end at purchase. It goes on until the contract bed is past the ten year mark.

Contract Bed Guide: More advice from Millbrook Contract Beds
Just over a couple of weeks ago, we conducted a mini-poll to find out what hoteliers expect from their contract beds. You can read the blog here.
To continue the theme, we thought it would be interesting to follow-up on the blog. So, we have been busy getting feedback and updates from the hoteliers we spoke to and are also pleased to say that since our blog, some of them have been looking at their contract bed regime!
As we wrote in our initial blog, a lot of hotels share a common desire when it comes to their contract beds and look for quality that is not only visually appealing but that is also highly practical to their needs.
One hotelier subsequently commented that:
“When it comes to the difference between bed and breakfasts and four or five star high end hotels, I think the line has been blurred a lot more. These days, people want more for their money, so when I buy something like a contract bed, I try to get the very best for my budget as I’m competing with the very best five star hotels in my mind”.
What this appears to suggest is that quality offered by high end hotels is also just as applicable to a smaller bed and breakfast and thus with a contract bed – the price you pay is just as important for a small establishment as it is for a bigger one.
Since doing our mini-poll, three hotels have said they have re-evaluated their regime when it comes to their hotel contract beds. Whereas previously, they maintained the highest standards of cleanliness, ensuring that the beds were of course cleaned regularly, they have now started to look at finding ways to make sure that they are consistently providing the best. If this means looking at general wear and tear more often or ensuring the turning of the contract mattresses are done more regularly, they want to try and deliver and of course maintain the quality for all their guests for years to come.
One hotel in particular has now looked at finding more space saving options since they didn’t actually there was a solution for this that didn’t mean they would need to offer something rickety and unstable. Essentially, there is quality available for contract beds that are designed for periodic use so you can continue with top quality provision.
Most of the hoteliers said they would now be making it policy to turn the contract mattresses at least once a month – if not more during the summer months to ensure optimum quality sleep time for their guests as they had to admit that previously they were not always so good at doing this to a strict regime.
In view of these results, we thought it would be a good idea to do some further research on going and have arranged with five bed and breakfasts and three of the hotels originally spoken with, to collate both their positive feedback and any negative feedback for the next six weeks.
They have agreed to follow some of our standard maintenance guidelines and we hope to bring you the results at the end of our research, which will of course be published on our blog.

Contract Bed in Healthcare:Millbrook Contract Beds
Many of our clients know that our attention to detail when it comes to Healthcare Contract Beds is extremely high.
After all, for guests that are in recuperation after an illness or indeed who need something that can allow full and proper relaxation and rest, the choice of contract bed in the healthcare industry is a very important one.
If you are the family of someone who is recuperating or a guest in the healthcare community, then you will know that decent sleep is something of an essential component to that recuperation and a contract bed (although you may not think of it that way) is something you will want to adjust regularly to allow the person in it to get optimum comfort.
If you are a business that offers top quality options in the healthcare industry for a range of people, then you will also want to make sure your contract beds are not only highly functional, but also easy to move and manoeuvre for your team.
A good contract bed for the health industry will be pocket sprung and have some kind of memory foam that is responsive to body contours, or very soft, cotton fibres that offer comfort. After all, if someone is laying in it for a few days, then you will want to make sure the contract bed they’re in fits with their individual body shape and movement while they sleep. It also allows you to convey how much you care to their families and friends, who may well visit and want to know that their loved one is being looked after in the very best way.
Obviously another key element is a contract bed that can be adjusted easily, while allowing a multitude of options for the person adjusting it. Often the best answer in this scenario is something like a handheld device that will allow you to move the angle of the bed for the best comfort of your guests.
We offer a range of Contract Beds at Millbrook that are suitable for hotels, luxury liners, healthcare industries and a number of academic industries.
We also have over sixty years experience within our industry and for your total convenience we offer free delivery directly to your business and are more than happy to remove and dispose of your old contract beds as well! And if that’s not quite enough, we’ll also set-up your new contract beds for you.

Hotels taxing their guests for contract beds
Millbrook Contract Beds has been keeping its eye on the news and on any developments happening within the hospitality industry and the contract bed world of supply and demand.
In the news recently there has been a controversial new idea discussed in regards to hotel groups that £26 million could be potentially raised by taxing tourists £1 a night for the beds they sleep in. Most hospitality businesses have branded the scheme, quite rightly, as a terrible idea.
This rather unexpected way to help fund economic infrastructure in the country was suggested by Cornwall Council’s director of economy, Tom Flanagan at a regional communities meeting. His belief was that hotel beds were the “most reasonable” pieces of contract bedroom furniture that could be taxed in this scheme.
Flanagan was quoted as saying: “Cornwall has 26 million visitor nights per year. If you put £1 per head per bed that could raise £26 million which could go into investment. These are funding opportunities for Cornwall if we are given the freedom.”
According to Mr. Flanagan, a £1 a night charge would be a major contribution to the community, relieving the burden of the local taxpayer and improving the tourist experience. The problem is that hotel prices have already gone up in certain regions and this can only make guests more frustrated by rising costs; some costs that may seem unfair or unnecessary.
Taxing hotel beds or any contract bedroom furniture is a slippery slope, especially as it opens up a can of worms debate about where this kind of “blunt taxing” will end. What next? Taxing extra for customers sitting at tables in restaurants? Unsurprisingly, this idea has not found favourable support from local councillors or hoteliers.
The hospitality industry is sympathetic to its guests and they don’t want to rock that particular boat especially during already rocky times within the UK economy. Contract beds should only have a singular cost upon their purchase and then it should be left at the discretion of the respective hoteliers and businesses on how much they wish to charge for their rooms and amenities. Local council and government should not be really dabbling in this area.
The secretary of the Falmouth and District Hoteliers Association, Rosemary Riddette Gregory, was quoted as saying that this idea had already been trailed elsewhere and failed.
She went on to say, “People do not want to be taxed any more. It could decimate the trade. It may only be £1 but it is £1 too far. Accommodation owners do not want to be unpaid tax collectors for the government or the council.”
Millbrook Contract Beds agrees with the sentiment. For more information on contract bedroom furniture or hotel beds, please feel to contact us for further advice.

Academic Collection – The Residence contract bed
In our last blog Millbrook Contract Beds began exploring the Academic Collection by profiling The Conference. In today’s blog we shall continue the series and investigate the benefits and features of The Residence for hotel contract bed purposes.
With so much of the summer season already underway, hoteliers and the hospitality industry need to stay in step with guest demand for comfort and the only way to do that is to evaluate the condition of their current contract beds. If the verdict on the quality of the hotel bed is somewhat lacking, especially if it has not been replaced for some time, it is crucial to consider trading up for something newer, improved and far more superior.
Academic contract beds are designed to be space saving alternatives to divan bed bases. They are made to be an economical substitute for larger hotel beds. This is where The Residence comes into play.
The Residence is highly practical, particularly if you are running a busy hotel or B&B. Its durability makes it adaptable to many situations and locations. It has a PVC mattress cover that protects it, combining with the sturdy frame support to make a hard wearing but comfortable sleeping experience. It is ideal for hygiene purposes with wipe clean surfaces.
This hotel contract bed has no drawers beneath it but does allow for items to be stored beneath it for safekeeping. It is an easy to assemble and disassemble bed that has major benefits for hotels looking to increase their fill rates and reach maximum occupancy on all their rooms and room shares. During the holiday seasons it seems more and more of an expectation that groups of friends and families wish to share rooms while they enjoy their holiday together. The Academic Collection helps to make this possible, particularly The Residence contract bed. It is ideal for this purpose.
One thing to take into consideration is whether or not you want to use The Residence for other purposes. With multiple choices available for bed frames and legs these space saver beds give complete flexibility when needing to provide extra beds or sleeping room for almost any establishment. They are used for university residences and campuses also. The prime benefit of an Academic contract bed is that they can offer economy of space and price.
The next blog will detail the final contract bed in our ranges; The Campus. That will draw to a close our series of blogs on Millbrook contract beds collections. If you have any specific enquiries or questions, please do contact us and we will be happy to give you advice on all matters hotel or contract bed related.
Academic Collection – The Conference contract bed
Millbrook Contract Beds continues its blog series on our hotel contract bed collections for the hospitality industry. Over the last couple of weeks we have profiled the International Collection and the Healthcare Collection. We have discussed the benefits of each hotel bed and why they suit different people, or even different hotels.
In today’s blog we will be concentrating on the practicality, economy and durability of the Academic Collection contract beds, starting with The Conference contract bed. The hotel beds in this collection are designed to be a hardwearing bunch with models to suit every situation and any location.
The combination of sturdy but space-saving bed base designs and hygienic, wipe clean mattresses are ideally suited to hotels that need to be flexible. Previous blogs from Millbrook have discussed the need to maximise fill rates with space saving contract beds for the Academic Collection.
The Conference contract bed has an open coil mattress on a metal skid leg base. This base is firm and durable. The breathable mattress cover is a wipe clean, which means it can be cleaned easily time and again. One of the best features of this bed is that the fabric dissipates body heat whilst maintaining comfort levels through its high volume of woollen. The Conference comes in a variety of sizes and space saving options. It has no drawers but the space beneath the base can be used for storage purposes if necessary.
A common problem amongst hotels can be economy of space but wanting to achieve maximum capacity. Our 60 years of experience has taught us how to address these concerns with the range of products we produce and supply.
When practicality needs to be combined with economy, the Academic Collection provides durability with excellent value for money. With models available to suit every situation and location. Durable and hard wearing, these beds are also easy to keep clean and hygienic with wipe clean mattress surfaces. All the bases are sturdy and there are multiple choices available for the bed frames and legs. If you need to be flexible in providing extra beds than normally required the Space – Savers designs will suit your needs.

Poll conducted: What hoteliers look for in their contract bed supplier
Millbrook Contract Beds are always interested in what hoteliers look for in their contract beds and their suppliers. Recently, we conducted a poll on 25 hotels – 8 were independent B&B’s, 12 were high-end hotel chains and 5 were mid-range hotels that do large business. The poll indicated the following:
These hotels seem to share a common desire; contract bedroom furniture has to be of a very fine and very high quality, not just in aesthetic, but also in function. No matter what the budget of the hotels, or the star rating, or the fill rate success, or lack thereof, the consistent need is to meet the demands and expectations of guests. And guests demand quality.
So what does this mean for a contract bed supplier like us?
It means we have to stay consistent in what we offer. We believe in keeping close relationships with the hotels and businesses we supply with contract beds. The importance of these relationships are of paramount importance. Hotel beds are such a key factor of the guest experience.
The poll conducted by us showed that 75% of hotels prefer to have contract beds that are durable and adaptable. Adaptable meaning adjustable. The increase in demand for Zip and Link contract beds seems to be on the rise. Space-saving options are becoming highly beneficial during the busy seasons. These can provide so much help when maximising fill rates for room shares.
A frightening 65% of hotels do not turn their mattresses regularly. Now this accounts for why many mattresses are quick to diminish in comfort and quality.
30% of these hotels have had complaints from guests about their contract beds. This correlates to the previous stat regarding the lack of maintenance on the hotel beds themselves.
The poll indicated that 80% of the hotels polled expected longevity in the mattresses and bed bases regardless of whether they are turned or not. With the amount of contract bed suppliers out there, there is a lot of choice on offer but 60% of our hotels said they were not happy with their current contract bed suppliers due to the contract beds deteriorating within the space of several years rather than the expected seven to ten. The suppliers that were referenced by the polled hotels will remain anonymous of course.
Millbrook contract beds have been in this business for 60 years and we have been supplying hotels for as long. This is where our experience counts for a lot.
Overall, our poll reveals a strong need for long-lasting quality contract beds that have adjustable options with attractive aesthetic attributes and features. If our hotel poll tells us anything it’s that they need better quality beds, or better standards of caring for the beds.
We like to communicate with the businesses we supply, which is why we are now on Twitter. We want to keep the channel of communication open to all current and prospective customers. Healthcare contract beds – The Therapy
Millbrook Contract Beds is constantly trying to pave the way in the design and functionality of its contract beds. It is important to us that all of our contract bed collections are of the highest quality and standards. Of course, every contract bed supplier would say this, but we really mean it. This can be proven and evidenced by our Healthcare Collection. In the last blog we took you through the benefits of The Purity and why it is ideal for mature guests or guests with ailments, or even just hotel guests looking to recline, relax and feel pampered.
Hoteliers understand the importance of contract bedroom furniture as much as we do, therefore we must live up to their expectations and demands. In today’s blog we are looking at The Therapy, the sister model to The Purity. So why is this contract bed so good?
Without giving a direct demonstration, it cannot be fully expressed on how advanced these healthcare beds are. The Therapy is the finest adjustable bed going as far as contract bedroom furniture goes.
Like The Purity it is an adjustable bed that has a control function tailored to suit the individual needs of the person using it for reclining, relaxation and recovery. It operates through a five way adjustable positioning system that can be accessed and adjusted by a handset control. As with The Purity, The Therapy has the massage option which allows for an entirely blissful experience.
The Therapy is a pocket spring bed that is inclusive of heat sensitive visco memory foam. Visco memory foam is polyurethane that has additional chemicals applied to it in order to increase viscosity and density. This higher-density allows for the foam to become pressure-sensitive, moulding to the contours and shape of the person’s body that returns to its original shape once the pressure is alleviated. This mattress is incredibly beneficial to those who suffer from back pain or have psychical ailments. The reason it is called The Therapy is that it is specifically designed to facilitate good health with full responsiveness to body contour moulding.
The Healthcare Collection has benefited the hotel and hospitality industry as much as it has the healthcare industry. What is important to recognise in this is that some guests require that much more comfort than others, especially if they older or suffer from disability or illness. Hotels should cater to everyone and you really can’t go wrong with a Therapy in your rooms – one of the finest pieces of contract bedroom furniture you can get your hands on. Millbrook Contract Beds is always available to give advice and talk you through contract bed browsing and buying. For more information contact us here.
