Feng shui in the bedroom – there’s an art behind it
In honour of the Chinese year of the dragon we thought we would take a look at how feng shui might help you improve the energy in your bedroom and how this can compliment your contract beds and contract bedroom furniture. These tips are applicable to both personal and commercial usage, at home or at the hotel.
Feng Shui literally translates as “wind-water” and is based on the principle that the flow of energy of the things in the world around us have an effect on our lives and our own internal energy flow.
The Chinese word for this energy is”qi” (pronounced “chee” in English). The principle of qi is found throughout Chinese culture from martial arts to acupuncture and is centuries older than western science. Even so it is often viewed with some skepticism, often classed as mystical, hocus pocus, yet the principles of feng shui are often derived from common sense.
All we can say is give it a try and see if it has any effect on your nightsleep.
When it comes to the bed itself then it is important to have three solid factors all which can be found in Millbrook contract beds.
- –A good mattress – supportive and comfortable
- –A good headboard – especially wooden or upholstered
- –A good height – A bed should be good height from the floor to allow energy to circulate
When considering where to place a bed within a room you should always try to feel how the room reacts to how you change things. It is considered good practice to place a bed against a solid wall and try not to place a bed opposite a door or opposite any sharp angles. It is also good advice to balance a bed on each side, for example with bedside tables. In feng shui electrical devices are considered to have a negative effect on the flow of qi. The electrical magnetic fields are though to disrupt the energy in a room so it’s good advice to reduce the amount of electrical devices to a minimum.
As mentioned earlier many feng shui principles follow common sense and these are quite easy to follow as you probably follow them already.
- –A bed under a window will protect your energy and keep it from dissipating while you sleep.
- –A bed under a sloping ceiling will constrict your energy flow.
- –Make sure that a bed has access from both side. A bed with access from just one side will restrict the flow of energy.
Feng Shui bedroom dont’s
- –Never place a bed opposite a mirror.
- –Never place a bed under a roof beam or ceiling fan.
- –Never place a bed opposite a a shelf
When using feng shui you should never worry too much if you can’t stick to all the rules and you should always follow what feels best for you but maybe following these principles you can maximise your energy and find a more beneficial nights sleep.
