What your sleeping position says about you
Our blog today is a little bit more light-hearted. We’ve been asking everyone in both the Millbrook Beds and Millbrook Contract Beds teams a simple question this week: what’s your favourite position?
Understandably, people were shocked at first, but we are talking about the positions you sleep in every night. According to some great research and infographics, the position you sleep in tells you a lot about your personality. So when you go to sleep tonight in your contract bed or Millbrook Bed at home, keep it in mind and keep a record when you wake up. You’ll be very surprised at the revelations.
- Soldier: the soldier sleeper is very reserved, both in their sleeping position and in real life. They keep a lot to themselves and find it difficult to share. These kinds of sleepers live quiet lives and hold a lot back to themselves. They are reserved in their opinions, too, so it might be difficult to get a lot of information out of someone like this or get to know them better.
- Freefall: the freefaller is exactly what you might think. They are great in social situations, huge fun to be around and they apparently love to party. They’re also great entertainers, so if you sleep on your front in a Superman-style, you’re likely to be outgoing, bubbly and the life and soul of gatherings that you attend.
- Starfish: the starfish is a surprising one in the personality table. Starfish sleepers are excellent listeners and are always there when you need someone to talk to. They are attentive, caring and they put other people before themselves most of the time.
- Foetal: people that sleep in the foetal position are ordinarily very gruff initially, maybe even short-tempered, but they tend to have very warm personalities as you get to know them better. They are honest people who find a great deal of security in themselves. (That must be why they curl up like babies!)
- Log: people who sleep in the log position are defined as outgoing people with a great deal of self-confidence. People sleeping in this type of position are usually socially confident and prefer to spend time with groups of people rather than alone.
- The Yearner: the yearner may sound as though they are emotionally needy or clingy, but the reality is that this type of sleeper is quite different. They like to be perceived as open and easy to read by their friends and family, but they have a very suspicious nature and find it harder to trust people that they know.
So what type of sleeper are you? We’ve had mixed responses at Millbrook Contract Beds; a very varied set of answers from people in the team! Of course, this isn’t to be taken as 100 per cent foolproof indication of your personality. It’s from a study of sleep done by Psychology Degree and has some interesting facts about sleep behaviours in people. At Contract Beds, we love learning as much as we can about the mysteries of sleep and this was too good to resist.
